A resurfaced video of Princess Diana showing off her impressive musical skills is making the rounds to the delight royal fans. The clip features Diana playing a few bars of a piano concerto before receiving praise from a small crowd.
This video posted by the Daily Mail was taken during a 1988 royal tour of Australia with Prince Charles. The couple visited the Melbourne College of Arts where Charles’s old music tutor, professor Henri Touzeau, was teaching at the time. The professor was beaming with excitement as he encouraged each of them to play an instrument in the rehearsal room.
Charles opted to play a few notes on a cello before turning the attention to Diana, who took a seat at the piano to perform a portion of Piano Concerto No. 2 by Sergei Rachmaninoff. The brief yet impressive performance wowed everyone in the room (even earning her a kiss on the cheek from the professor).
Take a look:
This isn’t a surprise as Diana came from a musical background. She learned to play several instruments, including the piano, at a young age. Also, her maternal grandmother was a talented pianist.
Diana, known for her compassionate and kind nature, was always willing to share her musical gift with others. In 1991, she visited a children’s hospital in the Czech Republic and played the piano to bring joy to the kids.
She also tried giving piano lessons to Prince William and Prince Harry when they were very young. Both children were seen excitedly playing on the keys during a royal photoshoot.
There’s no doubt that this clip stirs nostalgia and leaves many people wondering what Princess Diana’s life could’ve been or what she might’ve looked like today. However, one thing’s for sure: Her legacy continues to live on and inspire future generations to come.
