When a neglected dog named Holland was first dropped off at an open access animal shelter, she was in terrible shape and in desperate need of medical attention. Lucky for her, the Chicago-based Trio Animal Foundation (TAF) was called right away — and the charitable organization went above and beyond to help her.
Their first course of action? As the organization described on Facebook, it was to free her from the “prison of her own fur” — a matted mess than enveloped her whole body. A few inches thick, this fur covered most of her back and made her ears look like they were half a foot long.
So the organization worked tirelessly to cut off the matted fur, but noticed that the poor pup was starting to get stressed out. So they arranged for her to be sedated and get a surgical grooming done at the vet, which would ensure her safety and well-being.
And what a difference it made! The workers were amazed to see that she had no major physical health issues other than bruises and cuts on her skin. A few medical treatments and emotional rehabilitation sessions later, and she looked like a totally new dog — both inside and out.
It gets even better. In a matter of weeks, Holland was adopted by a kind and loving family who couldn’t be happier to take her home with them.
We’re sure Holland’s new mom and dad will bless her with the love, care, and support that she never got before. And Holland — like all neglected dogs — certainly deserves that kind of love.
